Domestic Short Hair (short coat) Cat

The Fabulous Fifteen the Cat needs a home

My name is Phil.  The shelter has been my home for the past 2 years.  I don't hold out much hope of ever finding a home of my own.   You see, I have a few strikes against me.   I'm considered a shy cat, who will need a special home with someone who understands shy cats.   And I have a health issue.  I've had surgery for bladder and kidney stones.

Enough with the negative, let me tell you about my bright side!   I have a handsome inquisitive face, gigantic paws and adorable markings.  I'm the ambassador in a room where I live with 15 of my friends.  When visitors come into the room, I'm the one who greets them.  I'm always thinking and trying to figure things out.  I'm goofy and love to play. I'll let you pet me if you come visit.

What is the purpose of this literary piece you may ask?  As an ambassador, I feel that, although my chances of finding a home are slim, I need to get the word out about my 15 friends.  They're too shy to ask, but they deserve forever homes.

We were all born into a hoarding situation and, through no fault of our own, the girls kept having babies and we were all very stressed and living in dreadful conditions.  There were over 70 cats in this horrible house and no one socialized with us.  We grew up confused and fearful of people.  Every day we work to leave the memory of our past behind us.  We've all made great progress.  Two of the cats from my room were adopted last month!  Reports are they are adjusting amazingly well in their forever home!

Here's our situation now.   We've been living in a room that is way too small for all of us.  We don't have enough space to spread out and play.  We love to look out windows, but we have to compete for a spot in front of the 2 windows in our room.   It's better than being in a cage, but our volunteer friends tell us we deserve so much more.  A few of my friends are very nervous living in a crowded room and all they do is hide under blankets.

Several of us are the most playful cats you'll ever see!  We light up when our volunteer friends come into our room.   Some of us mill around the person to be petted.  We're smart, inquisitive, gentle souls.  Again, our major problem is we are shy cats, but it's not our fault.  Volunteers think we'll continue to blossom in our very own homes.  We just need a chance.

All we need is a home with a person(s) who understand all that we've been through and is willing to give us a place to be happy, with no expectations that we'll ever be lap cats.  We might be, but we don't know, as we have never lived in a real home.  Oh, and one more thought.  We are such a bonded group that volunteers think my friends would do best if adopted in pairs.  I know, it's a lot to ask.

If you have room in your heart, and your home, for any of us, please come to visit us.  I'll be sitting at the door waiting to greet you.
